New Costume Jewellery Designs Project

  1. The Costume Jewelry industry in Sri Lanka traditionally hails from generations of the communities engaged in this particular trade. The industry is wide spread throughout Sri Lanka with a reasonable potential market existing, linked with the traditional customs and fashion trends. The raw materials are imported from India and South Africa to Sri Lanka. Except for a few key manufacturers, majority of goldsmiths are working as subcontractors. The proposed project intends extending a hand to many such people in their community to enhance their abilities to obtain a better income and a broader range of designs and items. The proposer will work with a team of about 10 competent goldsmiths and promote additional business through introducing new patterns of both gold and silver jewelries. As there are already regular orders from a number of jewelry shops in the town, with increased efforts in promoting jewelry products, production levels will go up. When this development takes place additional investment is required for buying of raw materials and servicing the orders. Therefore the project is looking for a prospective investor to fulfill the gap of funds. The proposed project is designed to invest over a period of 10 years as a joint venture. The project cost is estimated at Rs 1 million and the estimated profit would be Rs1,702,750.00 for 5 years and expected this to be doubled in the next 5 years.

Jazeema Agency Rice Mill Re-fit

  1. The project is to improve the Rice Mill that is already in operation at Kinniya by installing new rice milling equipment. There are huge areas of paddy in Kinniya and its surrounding areas.
The project will involve constructing a new building and equipping it for rice milling as well as having a yard and a store. This will enable the production of rice of a much higher quality (which can therefore command a premium price).

The rice from this mill will be marketed primarily in Trincomalee, but could also be marketed in Kandy and Colombo.
The total investment required to develop this project is in the region of Rs32million. Only 10% of the investment amount can be met by the proposer, so an external investment of around RS29million is sought.
On an annual basis, the mill will produce a net profit in the region of Rs4,800,000
