About BizPAct

BizPact is an initiative which aims to develop and promote the role of business in sustaining peace and development in Sri Lanka. It aims to harness the potential of the private sector both locally and globally to actively engage in corporate responsibility, corporate activism and public-private partnerships. This will enable business to play its proper role in building a better Sri Lanka.

Stakeholders across the private, public and international communities concerned with Sri Lanka agree about the importance of its Diaspora in the country’s development. In this spirit, several donors have shown strong interest in supporting this platform for greater Diaspora involvement in the island’s economy.

BizPact aims to convert this interest into real commercial opportunity by forging critical links between Sri Lankan and international investors and businesses in the provinces of Sri Lanka.

Given the scale of the project’s objectives and the encouraging signs that results can be delivered, BizPact firmly believes that Sri Lanka’s Diaspora partners and its business community need to explore the possibilities of this project together, both urgently and vigorously.

Aid or Trade?

The question of 'what to do?', to most effectively achieve economic prosperity is challenging. How, when and where should the government, the international community and the private sector intervene, to best create the conditions that facilitate sustainable and equitable economic growth ?

In Sri Lanka this culture of advocacy has seen a flow of International assistance for decades. Billions of dollars have been spent already in creating the first steps for infrastructure, and many times that amount in effort and emotion has gone into countless entrepreneurial support projects in the island for several years.

Clearly these efforts have brought much relief and achieved many breakthroughs, but amidst great economic and political uncertainty, the question remains on how best to stimulate equitable growth for all.

This is where the experience behind BizPact may be of value. Over the last few years, the BPA has been harnessing the power of good networking and strong co-operation with multiple partners from within Sri Lanka and across the globe. These networks have in turn revealed incredible commercial opportunities for investors willing to enter this new and exciting area of investment.
